Here is something to think about…years ago, for all household plumbing, they used copper piping. Today, more times than not, the plumbing in a household will be done with PVC or some other type of plastic piping. With the switch from copper to plastic, households in the United States have lost a vital mineral to healthy living.

Copper acts as an excellent anti-bacterial. Copper is the third most prevalent mineral in the body. It also aids in proper growth, utilization of iron, enzymatic reactions, heart rhythm, the functions of the thyroid glands, arthritis, and wound healing. Copper is also an important nutrient for connective tissues, because it has a significant role in the synthesis of hemoglobin, myelin, body pigment and melanin. Copper has been used by many generations, especially populations in India, to fight the aging process. Copper is a strong antioxidant which works in the presence of the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase, to safeguard the cell membranes from free radicals.

There are many symptoms to indicate if you are deficient in copper. Some include, anemia, lower body temperature, brittle bones, low white blood cell count, elevated cholesterol levels, low resistance to infections, and thyroid disorders.

Luckily, even though copper piping is no longer commonly used, there are still many ways you can reintroduce copper back into your life. Copper can be found in food sources such as liver, meat, seafood, beans, whole grains, wheat bran, almonds, avocados, and garlic. Copper can be reintroduced through the use of copper cooking devices such as pots, pans, and serve ware. The best option to reintroduce copper to your diet is the same way it was first chiefly removed, through drinking water. If you do not have the option to install copper piping into your home, then consider using a copper drinking cup. By filling up the cup at night before bed, the cup throughout the night will release copper into the water. In the morning, drink the whole glass to get your complete dose of copper.

For your convenience, if you are interested in using a copper cup to replenish the copper within your body, we can ship one to you.
